Our Investment Thesis

ControlZ is building India’s first premium smartphone renewal brand by industrializing the process of restoring pre-owned devices to an “as good as new” state, both cosmetically and functionally. While smartphones are typically replaced every two years despite a usable life of five years, over 95 percent of secondhand phones are sold in unorganized markets with degraded batteries, scratches, and poor quality standards.

ControlZ addresses this gap with its proprietary renewal hub, designed to operate like an OEM assembly line. Using a mix of industrial automation, AI-driven precision, and component-level renewal processes, the company restores displays, housings, cameras, and circuit boards with exacting standards. This results in devices with 100 percent battery health, up to 18 months of warranty, and bundled fast-charging accessories, offering customers peace of mind and affordability.

Its model reduces turnaround time from days to hours, ensures consistent quality, and achieves economies of scale. By positioning itself between conventional refurbishment and new devices, ControlZ offers premium quality at a fraction of new phone prices while minimizing e-waste.
